LDS ABC'S

I wanted to put together a bag for Sundays, one with plenty of toys, books, treats, and distractions to keep my little one calm at church, but I also wanted to keep a Sabbath theme to them for the most part. Sadly, I couldn't quite find what I was looking for in this regard. So, I decided to just be cool and make my own.

I used an old CD case (CDs?! My kids will probably grow up and not even know what they are!) and fashioned my very own LDS themed ABC book- an awesome way to up-cycle something that is otherwise useless.... Some of the letters were a  bit of a stretch... but I did the best I could! Here's what I came up with in case they are of any use to you! (LDS= Latter Day Saint= abbreviation for a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which I am) I got all of my pictures out of old copies of the Ensign, the Friend or out of New Era.

I cannot tell a lie- I was quite impressed with myself here. It took much longer to figure out an LDS alphabet than I thought it would!

A is for Atonement
B is for Baptism. C is for Christ.
D is for Daniel (in the lion's den) E is for Eagle Scout.
F is for Fasting. G is for Gospel.
H is for Hymns. I is for Israel.
J is for Jesus. K is for King (as in Jesus, the King of Kings?)
L is for Liahona.
M is for Missionary. N is for Nativity. (N was tough!)
O is for Olive branch.
P is for Prophet. Q is for Queen Esther.
R is for Rebekah.
(I tried to stay away from specific individuals as much as possible, but.... had to here.)
S is for Sacrament. T is for Temple.
U is for Utah. V is for Visiting Teaching.
W is for Wedding.
X is for eXodus. (YOU try to find a better one for X!)
Y is for Young Women's.
Z is for Zion!

  1. I had a busy month and wasn't online much so you can imagine how happy I was to find 3 new posts on your blog, yeah! This idea is awesome. I also have a "church" bag for my daughter, she turned 2 this month. It really keeps her quiet and busy during mass. Although these days she participates more which is so exciting and cute. I'm definitely gonna try this book idea, I like that it's faith based. Thank you for your great ideas.

    1. Thanks, Annette! I'm so happy to hear you enjoy reading my blog. My daughter turns two next month, so I know where you are coming from when it comes to kids in church!
